Superficial vein thrombosis : Changing the view of the risk of disease and medical treatment

Abstract

Superficial vein thrombosis or superficial thrombophlebitis form a very heterogeneous group of diseases. In contradiction with earlier opinions, superficial thrombophlebitis may have a serious consequences and it can result in deep vein thrombosis and even pulmonary embolism.

Ultrasound examination of superficial and deep veins should be part of diagnostics.
