Abstract
The year before (2012) Czech Republic faced an unprecedented wave of poisoning caused by the presence of excessive amounts of methanol in alcoholic beverages (Spirits). Unfortunately, even this extensive series of poisonings are not uncommon in the world (Table. 1).
On the other hand, we must admit that the majority of such serious problems occur in developing countries where the general supervision over the quality of food and beverages greatly underestimated.
