Interpreting in Foreign Language Teaching

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

The article introduces interpreting and bilingual activities in general as a modern tool in foreign language teaching. Away from professional settings, interpreting can be exploited in multiple ways in the language class, either as an efficient instrument in the practice of listening and speaking skills in foreign as well as mother language, of overall language proficiency, or - increasingly - as a skill per se, i.e. the fifth skill which involves the basics of translation and interpreting competence that language students may apply in diverse roles in private lives as well as professional careers.
