Applicability of satellite radar interferometry for geomorphological research on example of the Karviná region

Abstract

Methods of satellite radar interferometry (InSAR) have been applied for detection of extent of the undermined area in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian basin. Mining processes cause the ground subsidence resulting in the creation of subsidence depressions.

The paper presents results of application of InSAR for the subsidence detection in the Karviná region and also aspects of applicability this remote sensing method for a geomorphological (geological) research.
