The present essay deals with the question of realization of first postwar census in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Attention is focused on the causes of long-term postponement of census and explanation why the implementation of census was politicized to such an extent.
In addition there are sketched other complications accompanying preparation of this census. Though it is possible to determine the crucial reason why the census was blocked - different statements of three constitutional nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and ambiguous attitude of the international community.
