Notes on the Development of Illustration to Fairy Tales by Karel Jaromír Erben published in Czech

Abstract

Books by Karel Jaromír Erben were richly illustrated since the beginning of the previous century. They represent more than century of development of artistic Czech illusrations.

The study focuses on the selected illustrations of Erben´s fairy tales (Artuš Scheiner, František Kobliha, Jiří Trnka, Ludmila Jiřincová) and it concludes with illustrations from the Czech publication (Živá voda, editor Jana Čeňková, 2011) by Japanese illustrator Iku Dekune.
