Abstract

The paper deals with narrations on early Bon masters of Amdo. Though legendary in their nature, there seem to be at least a piece of historical reality behind them.

It stresses the role of early Bonpo religious specialists called zhig po. A master living in 11th-12th century in Thewo (Amdo) is approached then and his three survivng texts including his alledged authobiography.
