Abstract

being on the triathlete’s organism responses to the stay and training at higher altitudes. The triathlete participated in at least one three-week-or-longer higher-altitude training camp each year during the two four-year Olympic periods prior Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

After transfer to the international training group of Dr. Daren Smith at the end of the year 2009, the triathlete participated in a four-month long-term training stay at higher altitude in each year.

Camps were held at various locations and continents and chosen with respect to the current training mesocycle and the competition schedule. Stays in Font Romeu (1850 m, France 2006 and 2007), Potchefstroom (1440, RSA, 2008 and 2012) and Davos (1560, Switzerland, 2010 and 2011) are analyzed in greater detail.
