Burnout syndrome as multidisciplinary phenomenon

Abstract

The publication provides relatively broad perspective on the issue of burnout across different fields of human activity. At first burnout is presented in terms of its historical development and conceptual definition, than at the critical level – confronted with commonly used psychiatric concepts and categories, but also and above all in the applied relations.

Number of leading professionals from various disciplines analyze the issue of burnout in their fields. Several chapters are devoted to the healthcare sector.

Attention is also paid to professions in the field of education, integrated rescue system, clerical professions, but also the reporter’s professions. The publication also presents Czech version of the questionnaire Shirom-Melamed scale that is suitable for the evaluation of the intensity of burnout in research, but also counseling practice.

The publication provides relatively complete picture of the issues that may significantly affect the personal and professional life. Publication is intended for professionals dealing with this issue, but also for all those interested in the issue of burnout at work and in life.
