Abstract
Trazodone is an antidepressant drug belonging to SARI group (serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor). It is anantidepressant with sedative properties.
With regard to few adverse events and profitable spektrum of effects trazodone is suitable also in gerontopsychiatry In patiens suffering from dementia trazodone ameliorates sleep disorders, depression, anxiety and restlessness (behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia). Most outstanding effect is seen in the group of frontotemporal lobar dementias.
