Abstract
In this monograph, Othmar Jaeggi presents his habilitation thesis, defended in 2005/06 at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Freiburg. A largely theoretical study, it evolved from questions that occurred to J. as he worked on the collection of Greek portraits in the Museo National de Bellas Artes in Havana.
