Article summarises results of the first phase of the project "The educational role of the National Heritage Institute: Education as a key tool for improving the quality of care of the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic" that is supported by the Government through the Program of Applied Research and Development for National and Cultural Identity. The main objectives of the project is to create a system of educational programmes focused on quality heritage education within historical sites, cultural landscapes, and archaeological sites, and to incorporate that programmes into the educational process at all levels of lifelong learning.
Following the global trends, the potential of both the authentic historical environment and modern information technology is used for educational activities.
