The Cognitive development between reproduction and innovation

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2013

Abstract

Cognitive socialization from the socio-cultural perspective is shown as a process of double mediation – both by cultural artifacts and by the social other. This process participates in the cumulative nature of human culture.

Based on Tomasello and Vygotsky the author demonstrates how both the reproductive and the innovative processes are embraced in the genesis of psychological functions.
