On Quality of Working Life and Downsizing

Abstract

Organizations need for reaching their goals and for competitiveness employees that are active, initiative, self-reliant, responsible, cooperativeness and so forth. With these employee attitudes and motivation interacts concepts of employee engagement and commitment or work satisfaction.

They are perceived as consequences of positive assessment of areas and aspects of quality of working life. Economic and social situations in our state is not possible to assess as favorable, it influences various life areas, quality of working life including.

Attention of contemporary organizations is principally focused on issues relevant their own existence and competitiveness, as is confirmed by frequent organization changes. They are accompanied by downsizing.

In this context quality of working life is perceived as not a significant issue nevertheless that realization of management decision and organization goals depends on employees who weren't downsized. It is a question if it is possible to realize downsizing without negative consequences on quality of working life.

Foreign experiences and research data that reflect application of approaches provide a positive answer.
