The article focuses on using psychotherapy in terms of multidisciplinary treatment of psoriasis. Rises from biopsychosocial model of dermatosis.
Describes case-study, which demonstrates effect of psychosocial factors in formation, course and exacerbation of disorder and concequences of psoriasis to quality of life. In patients, which cope with dermatology illness maladaptivelly, the dermatologist has following possibilities: the patient specifies problem her/himself, or manage the problems of patient connected to skin to find out together with team.
Part of the team can be clinical psychologist, which use psychological assessment and spectrum of psychological approaches to improve of quality of life, effective utilisation of social support, stress management and single manifestation of dermatology illnesses. Psychotherapeutical approach in treatment of psoriasis deserves more attention of clinicians dermatologists.
Positive would be the wider introduction of psychotherapeutical models and constructs into everyday dermatology practice which recognize the complex interplay between psychology and the skin.
