Abstract

Clostridium difficile is the main cause of nosocomial diarrhea in industrialized countries. Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is a potentially fatal illness with an increasing incidence worldwide.

Despite intensive ongoing research into CDI treatment, management of CDI still poses serious problems, such as high probability of recurrence and refractoriness to treatment.
