Shall We Abolish Not Only Syntactic Analysis?

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2012

Abstract

The paper responds to an article in the press where several teachers and Ministry of Education officials call for abolishing syntactic analysis in Czech language tution. The paper presents arguments that highlight the benefits of syntactic analysis, whereby pupils learn how words are built, their properties and sentence structure, and thanks to that can understand the language as a system and intentionally use the acquired knowledge in their own sentence formation.
