Physical fitness and quality of life improve by kidney transplantation during the first year after the surgery, although both concepts are deteriorated as compared to the healthy population. It is appropriate to support this improvement by physical activity and nutrition interventions.

Otherwise both physical fitness and quality of life decline again after the first year. Both of these concepts are associated with functional motor ability, which is crucial for safe and independent performance of activities of daily living (ADL) for as long as possible.
