Dimitrios Papas, founder of the lectureship Modern Greek Philology at the Charles Universit

Abstract

The article deals with personalities of Dimitrios Papas, founder of the lectureship Modern Greek Philology at the Charles University. At the same time, in period from 1947 to 1949, Papas worked in Prague as an unofficial ambassador of the leftist provisional democratic government of Greece.

Article draws on archival materials, especially from the National Archives in Prague, UK Archives and the Archives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in particular from the estate of Papas.
