Publication at Faculty of Science |
2013

Abstract

The paper gives a brief description of an inquiry based scientific education (IBSE) method and refers to it as to a possible way how to deal with some problems in scientific education. The results of many research works in recent years indicate that popularity of science among the students declines steadily as well as the volume of their knowledge and skills does not reach the required level.

During the teaching, students are generally introduced to terms and facts without being able to understand the principles of the described phenomena. They are able to demonstrate their knowledge succesfully but often fail when it comes to use it for solving a problem by themselves.

The paper goes through the tasks of the dissertation and the intended methods of the research related to implementing the IBSE activities to the chemistry teachig
