Abstract
Introduction: Our study is focusing on evaluation of safety and results following application of PRP (platelet rich plasma) in 20 patients after rotator cuff arthroscopic repair. Materials and methods: Following arthroscopic rotator cuff reconstruction, PRP with autologous thrombin was applied at the suture site.
Pre-operatively, and at 3, 6 and 12 months following the surgery, VAS, UCLA and Constant Scores were evaluated. Results: Average level of VAS was significantly decreased in comparison to pre-operative level.
Average UCLA score was improved from 18,6 to 34,7. Average Constant Score was improved from 54,3 to 86,4 at the time of the last follow up visit.
Discussion: This paper confirms the safety of PRP application in treatment of rotator cuff rupture, with good clinical results being achieved. Further prospective study is in preparation.
