"EXHIBITION GROUNDS": FROM THE TRIAL-AND-ERROR METHOD TOWARDS PROBLEM SOLVING STRATEGY

Abstract

A preliminary experiment from 2011 showed that a number of pupils have difficulties to discover and use certain advanced strategies in solving certain tasks. The same outcome has come from a long-term observation in a school class.

Children often preferred the trial-and-error method and were not able to move backwards or use some other advanced strategies which they had discovered before. They also had significant problems with unsolvable tasks.
