The level of running speed in elite young soccer players

The purpose of the study was to analyse a level of running speed in 30 meters of soccer players of Slovakia national team category U21 (n = 20, goalkeepers = 2, defenders = 4, midfielders = 8, forwards = 6) in the period of classification for The UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship 2011. A level of running speed was diagnosed by the apparatus FiTRONIC - FiTRO Light Gates.

The criteria of the assessment of the endurance was the time obtained in the distance of 30 m with the exactness 0,01 s. Differences in the level of running speed were recognised and defined by the expertise analysis.

A level of running speed of the object was presented by the average endurance with evaluation 4.59±0.09 s. The level of running speed of defenders was transformed into the endurance 4.67±0.07 s, midfielders’ 4.56±0.10 s and forwards 4.54±0.19 s, what is averaged to the level of evaluation and running speed of all objects.

In goalkeepers was also found significant low level of running speed presented by the average value 4.72±0.04 s opposite to the average level of the object. By the comparison of the level of running speed of the defenders, one vindicated significantly low level (4.77 s) in comparison with the average level of the running speed of defenders.

The expertise analysis of the level of running speed has showed that one midfielder had significantly high level (4.38 s) and two midfielders had significantly low level (4.66 s and 4.69 s) opposite to the average level of running speed of midfielders. The expertise analysis of the level of running speed has showed that one forward had significantly high level (4.25 s) and one forward had significantly low level (4.77 s) opposite to the average level of running speed of forwards.
