Laparoscopic uretero-pyelostomy is a feasible and minimally invasive modality for duplex kidney anomaly with functional upper-pole parenchyma or if partial nephrectomy is anatomically challenging. Proximal anastomosis prevents “jo-jo phenomenon” problems and does not require kidney mobilization.
Precise dissection allows the procedure to be accomplished without internal upper urinary tract diversion in selected cases and it leads to decrease risk of infectious complications.
