Abstract

Retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy is a miniinvasive treatment possibility for children with benign kidney disease associated with seriously decreased function, secondary hypertension and increased risk of infectious complications. Especially older girls profits from excellent cosmetic results of this procedure.

It is safe methods also for small children around one year of age. The risk of complications falls with number of procedures.

In case of adolescents or young adults with history of recurrent inflammations of the affected kidney is necessary to think about transperitoneal laparoscopic procedure because of fibrosis in retroperitoneum.
