Abstract

In April 1994, by agreement between the Society for Perinatology and the Society for Neonatology the limit for active treatment has been decreased from 27th week of gestation down to 24th week, stating that the treatment up to 25th consumated week of gestation will be individually decided by the perinatologist and the neonatologist. However, the approach to analysis of the data of mortality and morbidity relative to the weight of the newborn remained unchanged, therefore not even after 20 years the health condition of children who have been born on the treshold of viability in specific weeks of gestation is not known.
