Abstract
The author reminds obituary reference one of the founders of the field of Czech for foreigners at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. Recalls not only his professional contribution to the field of Czech for foreigners but also for the development of Czech sociolinguistics and phraseology.
The Jiří Hronek remembered as an outstanding teacher, linguist and friendly colleague, as an honest and principled man.
