Abstract

There is an increase of the senior population in our society. From the literature it is possible to obtain data, speaking about 20% of seniors on the composition of the present population.

The physical composition or size and the ratio of its own components reflects the lifestyle of an each individual. Body composition is individually influenced by age, gender, level of nutrition, physical activity, somatotype and individual variability.

Various studies suggests that individual differences in body composition in the elderly are greater than in any other age group. Body composition is one of the most important indicators of the development stage during ontogeny, the level of health, performance, physical fitness and nutrition.

Current state of the organism can be described at different levels. By the morphological parameters: body composition, body height, body weight, age.

The second level, the functional parameters are: the performance of the cardiovascular, respiratory, motor, control system. Sceletal system of old people are influenced by changes in their own active component (muscle tissue) and changes at the level of control centers.

We have applied physical intervention in the form of light, conditioning LTV for 12 weeks. Controlled intervention took place 2 times a week for 60 minutes with the anticipated increased energy expenditure by 900 calories above normal energy expenditure.

Checking the effect was assessed by analysis of body composition by means of pretest and posttest.
