Abstract
Pollen analyses from Neolithic extraction pits at Velké Hamry (Czech Republic) support archaeological dating of the studied features. They enable reconstruction of forest composition and human impact on vegetation.
It has been demonstrated that the forests were sharply different from present ones. They were dominated by demanding broadleaf trees.
The degree of anthropogenic defforestation was negligible. Nevertheless, occurrence of cereal pollen grains points to the existence of some fields in the vicinity of the sampling sites.
