This paper deals with the topic of democracy and creativity using the theoretical frame of Adorno's essay "The Schema of Mass Culture" especially his thesis concerning the necessity of mastering the conflict between meaning and the structural elements of syntactical signification. It investigates Adorno's theory of predetermination using illustrative analyses of practice and utterances of graduate students of Art Education Department, Charles University in Prague, during their teaching practice.
Research findings question the circumstances necessary for transcending the given limitations of the prescribed medium. Such transcending, according to Adorno, conditions any avant-garde culture.
