Pathogenesis and treatment of anaemia in cancer

Abstract

Anemia occurs in more than 50% of patients with cancer and significantly correlates with their poor quality of life and reduced survival. The most commonly occurs as a direct effect of tumor cells which produce inhibitory cytokines, or as a consequence myelotoxic effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
