Founding Pompeii: Reassessing the Participating Cultures and Ethnics

Abstract

The paper discusses recent discoveries on the site and opinions on the funding and early development of Pompeii. Attested presence of Etruscan, Greek and Oscan elements in the initial phases of the city history attributes to reassessment of modern intepretation of the city identity.
