Findings of a scrotal mass in children and adolescents are frequent. Most of them are benign originating from the testis, epididymis or spermatic cord.

A thorough history and physical examination usually makes the diagnosis and recognizes urgency of the condition. If not obvious, scrotal ultrasound with or without colour Doppler is indicated.

Parents and adolescent boys are very concern about future sexuality and fertility. Expertise is needed to make the diagnosis, to discriminate urgent and rare malignant conditions, and to recommend adequate management.

Scrotal masses include: testicular and paratesticular tumours, hydrocele/hernia, spermatocele, varicocele and conditions presenting as acute skrotum.
