Abstract
The article explores the different ways of expressing aspectuality in Czech and French, explaining the implications for translation between these two languages. Aspectuality is a grammatical category per se in Czech; French, however, relies on its own specific means.
Since it is impossible to apply to one language categories typical of a typologically distant language, translation problems often have to be solved at the level of text.
