Abstract
Myelodysplastic syndrome, which is basically a pre-malignant (pre-leukaemic) disease, is one of the most frequently occurring haematological diseases in patients aged 60 and above. At present, new therapeutic possibilities are emerging, capable of improving the patients’ quality of life or even treating the disease fully.
For that reason it is good to keep this disease in mind in cases of unclear cytopenia or non-specifically diagnosed anaemia.
