Abstract

The theme of family in the novels of the Belgian writer Jean-Philippe Toussaint. Known and appreciated for studying various forms of emptiness accompanying common relations, human loneliness as well as inadvertible passage of time, the feeling of aging and death which man continually approach from a young age.

Nevertheless his texts do not forget to remind us of the importance of family and they play on the side of absurdity and comedy of human relationships (man - woman in a couple, or children - parents in a family).
