Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2013

Abstract

Ovarian neoplasms of metastatic origin account for up to 20 % of all cases of ovarian malignant tumors and present a special challenge to accurate diagnosis with regard to their nature and origin. This chapter outlines the basic guidelines for a multifaceted approach to their diagnosis and summarizes extensive ultrasound observation into general principles that are helpful in correctly assessing the metastatic nature of these tumors as well as in finding the possible primary site.

Using these combined methods, the diagnostic accuracy could reach 90 %.
