This paper explains the methods employed in the interpretation of two deserted medieval villages in Bohemia. These are based on an analysis of villages still existing today, which have similar origins and a similar settlement morphology, and which exist in natural conditions comparable to the deserted medieval villages analysed.
The starting point of the research is the cadastral map from the Joseph II. period, which is the oldest source from the Bohemian territories which allows a detailed analysis of this sort.
