Abstract
In the article a basic survey of the development of anti-pagan legislation in the christianized Roman Empire as well as in the Byzantine Empire is given along with main outputs of scholarly debate on related problems. Author's attitude towards some issues is presented, several alternative viewpoints are suggested, and a number of observations concerning some particular questions are offered.
