Abstract
The article analyses the political mobilization of the Polish and German population in the county of Birnbaum (Międzychód) in the province of Poznania between the revolution of 1848/49 and the Polish January Uprising 1863. It shows the enormous potential for mobilization of both ethnic groups in the context of the revolutionary events and analyses the composition of the leading groups
