This paper discusses the linguistic integration of members of the Polish community in Prague in Czech society. In this context, the relationship to the majority language is analyzed, and above all the question whether the knowledge of Czech is necessary for living in Prague.
Since Polish and Czech are closely related, passive bilingualism could potentially operate in this relationship. First, the basic information about the project and the profile of the sample are presented.
Among the demographic data, apart from the traditional indicators (such as gender, age, education, nationality of parents and partners, citizenship, etc.), scale of social network integration was included, which is not commonly applied in Czech and Polish sociolinguistics. The author then bases her research on the theory of language management and describes the success of language integration.
Individual issues are analyzed in relation to sociological data and provided with qualitative commentaries.
