Premixed insulin in the treatment of diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Premixed insulin preparations containing short and long effective insulin in a defined ratio. They are designed primarily for the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes type.

Characteristic pharmacodynamics offers good influence especially postprandial glycemia. Premixed analogues as compared with human insulin greater potential to reduce postprandial blood glucose and lower risk of hypoglycaemia.

There is a choice of preparations with 25%, 30% and 50% short-active ingredients, which allows individual control therapy. After failure of combination therapy with oral antidiabetic agents are premixed insulins one of the possible options insulin regimens.
