The article dals with newly discovered personal diaries of the Director of the National Museum Library, Josef Volf. Those were discovered only recently.
These are documents from the years 1904-1937, in which the author notes in particular events of his personal life, but also the professional - we learn a lot about the situation at the University of Prague, in the National Museum, about the education of Czech librarians after 1918. In the present paper is to pay particular attention to personal relationships as the author recounts the first volumes of his diaries.
