Model of Chronic Back Pain Management Therapy in Pain Therapy Centers

Abstract

The article exemplifies the area of applied psychology for pain therapy. It is oriented at psychological factors such as fear of pain, depression and managing in patient with chronic non-tumor back pain.

These factors tend to be central in the pain experience, in dosing drug analgesia as well as therapy of chronic pain and invalidity. The therapy of patient with a chronic pain should be therefore complex, interdisciplinary and psychotherapy should be inseparable of the program of pain therapy and thereby exert a significant effect in the general experience of pain, stress and use of medical care.

The article concentrates on the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). The multidisciplinary therapy of pain, performed by a multidisciplinary team at the Centers of pain therapy, which includes CBT it its activities is described.
