Abstract

Urinary tract infections are generally characterised by the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in the urine or in the tissues of the uropoetic system and count among the most common infectious diseases. Infectious diseases of the urinary tract can be found in both genders with varying incidence, depending on age.

The diagnosis of an urinary tract infection needs to be based on the presence of significant bacteriuria.
