Abstract
Introduction presents the topics of the volume as a whole: it explains the debt of the Czech culture towards Hippocratic writings and specifies various attitudes to these writings, which, however, always have to respect and reflect the complex and multidisciplinary character of these writings, as well as the specific place of the history of medicine in the history of science as such.
