Abstract

The book is introducing authorial world classics and contemporary works for children and youth. The group of authors, consists of fourteen literary critics and translators who have created a glossary work which in national context (majority of selected titles are Czech) is introducing books for children and youth to general readership.

Furthermore, some of the titles which are mentioned in this book weren´t translated into Czech. This book didn´t deal with comics because they were covered by different translated publication.

The oldest title is a fairy tale by German romantic writer Wilhelm Hauff and the youngest book of the selection is a Czech novel Nazí (Naked) by Ivy Prochazkova and a Slovakian book Když se pes směje by Juraj Šebesta (2009),
