Study of galaninergic system in the rat neurohypophysis using expression of mRNA by RT qPCR

Abstract

Galanin and galanin-like peptides are involved in neuroendocrine and behavior functions as inhibitory modulators.In neurohypophysis we found the expression of mRNA of galanin, galanin-like peptide and all three receptor subtypes GalR 1, GalR 2, GalR 3. New finding suggest that GalLP may play an important role in the physiological regulation of body fluid balance, due to presence of GalLP mRNA in hypothalamo-neurohypophyseal system.
