In our study using the immunohistochemistry procedures, we clearly demonstrated that galanin-like peptide is expressed in neurohypophysis. Our colocalization studies found the coexpression of GalLP with oxytocin and vasopressin, pituicytes and neuronal tissue.
Using electron microscopy we determined the expression of GalLP on the membrane of pituicytes and we found colocalization GalLP with oxytocin. We assume that GalLP can influencing release of oxytocin and vasopressin from neurohypophysis.
