Abstract
We include sets of hymns from the Armenian Canonical Hymnal in Czech translation, accompanied with a theological commentary and pertinent musicological and historical information. The selection reflects a substantial variety – musically (though it is unlikely that the melodies now extant are those originally associated with the verbal texts), historically and in terms of language.
The primary focus is on hymns for the Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, as well as other items from the church calendar.
